" The Wee Ones"

On Thursday 24th June up at Forfar Farmington's ground Marketmuir the "Forfar Gala Fives" took place and our U11's came home as 2009 Champions, they were a joy to watch and it was so refreshing being around a group of kids who's enthusiasm had no boundries, they played some brilliant fooball for ones so young and beat Forfar 2.1 in the final, every player that attended should be very proud of themselves so well done our U11's,  Garry has got the team playing some terrific football and this team has a bright bright future as they go through the ages, it's good to know that the Club's future is in safe feet.

At the same event our U15B's had no luck in the semi final playing Arbroath "A", everyone who was watching this tie couldn't believe that the girls never progressed to the final, they had several clear cut chances but failed to turn them into goals, still they played some excellent football and went out to a well hit shot from Miss Van Wiess, a major plus from this game was Aimee Sturrock's marking of Abby Grant, Aimee kept Abby quiet the entire tie which is something that not many teams (nor players) have done as Abby is a wonderful player with great skill and technique who is high on my own respect list so well done U15B's for giving Arbroath a very hard tie and Aimee has been spotted by the Regional Coach who is putting her forward for the Regional Sqad so well done Aimee, Aimee as several others in the U15B team will be gaining experience at U17's level with the Ladies

"Coaching Badges"

Ladies we will be asking all of our 16+ years old players if they would like to attend an upcoming Early Touches Coaching ( 5 to 12 year olds) badge this is something that would help you if you are wanting to pursue a career in a sporting enviroment or want to become involved with our younger teams, we shall also be offering places on the next childrens pathway Level 2 course, the youth Level 1 and 2 (12 to 18year olds) coaching badges, please give your names to your Coach if you would like to attend these courses.

All players who have shown an interest in gaining Coaching Badges will shortly be receiving a letter from Sam Milne, the dates of the first two badges are 11th and 12th July 2009, details of where and times should be in the letter, Ladies we know it's "T" in the Park weekend but gaining Coaching badges is a terrific opportunity so we hope most of the players we have put forward can make these dates, Sam will be organising other dates in the future but we cannot say what dates these will be. After discussing this with the Ladies the names we put forward where:

Rachel Cheetham, Cally Fearn, Ailsa Aslam, Danielle Macmillan, Claire Thoms, Chelsea Watson, Terri Smith, Robyn Smith, Shaunni Lee Coleman.

Any other player who may be interested please get in touch asap.

We send our thanks and Gareth Dailly's thanks to Team Captain Rachel Cheetham, Cally Fearn and Ailsa Aslam, these 3 young Ladies attended the Dundee Primary school festival held at Caird Park on Tuesday 22nd June, again this was terrific experience for any player wanting to go into a working enviroment dealing with young kids and is excellent to have on your C.V, we hope you enjoyed being involved with 120+ Primary school kids. Plus you all have gained a free place on another Coaching badge which will be held in the October Holiday period, well done Ladies

More good news on the international front is that Danni McGinley will be going to the upcoming U15 Scotland training camp, we tend to forget that DANNI is a 1994, you would never guess seeing her at U17 level where she performs excellently week in week out, congratulations and well done Danni

Danni has impressed the Coaches whilst at the training camp and has been picked to attend the National Camp - again well done Danni and Congratulations your progress is excellent and you deserve your chance.

Back Up - Coleman - Fearn - Cameron - Buthchart - Duffy - Deuchars (u15b) - Doogan (u15b)

Goalscorers -  Cameron 2,Watson, Aslam, T .Smith, Peters, Coleman, R smith ( we know Ladies it was more but hey 3 points is 3 points eh)

Match Report - Well Ladies tall tales and some whispers of discontent but finally Jeanfield Saints were welcomed to the City of Discovery hmm not to our home park I may add but to Riverside, but you lot can play anywhere especially when a game means so much to you that you simply want to get on with it and play the beautiful game and my how well you played from the very first whislte until the Ref blew for full time your football was a joy to watch, one touch pass and move football that had your opponents chasing shadows. We will not describe in detail the goals (more than a scoreline suggests) but we will say that in thier creation some excellent build up's were viewed by all present.

By the 35th minute you had wrapped up the 3 points comfortably which allowed us the luxury of changing  the team and get every player involved. This did not alter or disturb the way in which the Ladies played the game and in so is a credit to every Ladies player who took part tonight, including (further  valuable experience)  our two U15B players goalkeeper Dez Doogan and winger Chloe Deuchars whom both again had excellent games and showed that they are very comfortbale playing up the levels. Apart from the Ladies team's excellent football another reason for the scoreline was the presence of two linesmen a Referee and an SFA Representative which meant, unlike our away tie against Jeanfield Saints when the game was being stopped every two minutes, this game flowed perfectly allowing the Ladies to do what they are suppose to be doing on the football park, for that we are gratefull for the ruling from our League Management Committee and we must send our thanks to the three Officials who handled the game in a first class manner.

To Jeanfield, it was good to finally welcome you down to Dundee and your girls played some good football themselves especially late in the second half when you scored a very good goal, we were especially glad that all your players were able to come down for the game. You were unfortunate to meet the Ladies team right in the mood to play tonight and when they are in this mode they are very difficult to stop as I'm sure you will agree, you as us are mainly 1993's and have another season at U17's and you showed tonight that as you get more games together at this level you will progress as a team, well done for never giving up which is the sign of dedicated football players.

18 LADIES WELL DONE SUPERB FOOTBALL TONIGHT

POTM - split between Chloe Deuchars and Desiree Doogan who both are defying logic for thier young age, they have fitted in seamlessly to an established U17's team, we look forward to using you both in future games as well as some of your U15B team mates, well done girls.

Sunday 14th June - Cowdenbeath 2 Tayside Ladies  3

Starting 11 - Clark -Macmillan - Thoms - Fearn - Cheetham - Lynch - McGinley  - T Smith - Aslam - R Smith - Peters-

Back Up - Butchart - Doogan - Duechars - Cameron

Goalscorers - R. Smith 2 , T. Smith

POTM - T. Smith top performance and aided the team on a day when many were posted missing in action

Match Report -- Not a very good day at the office today Ladies, yes we can say the pitch was not in very good condition for a G3 surface and in our opinion wasn't a safe place to play football on but we know you can play a 100 times better than this on any surface so the pitch cannot be blamed on it's own.

The game kicked off and the passing play that is usually associated with the Ladies wasn't clicking into gear, you did play at times some very good football but the final ball coupled with some very good defending by Cowdenbeath was making this a more demanding game, the Ladies took the lead after some excellent play on the right and a terrific cross was met on the volley by Terri Smith which left the Cowden keeper no chance, shortly after scoring we let Cowden  back in the game by gifting them  a goal  as the Ref judged our players had fouled a Cowden player in the box as a throw in came over, kind a soft but Ladies we keep on telling you that if you jostle when away from home the decision may go against you, the Cowdenbeath player calmly sent the ball into the left corner giving Jodz no chance. The Ladies regained the lead after Danni  who was playing well, sent over another perfect corner kick which was met by Robyn Smith again leaving the Cowdenbeath keeper stranded  As the game ticked on we introduced Natasha who had been doing very well at training and in recent games against Hibs and Celtic, at this point we also gave Squeak her first taste of U17's for the Ladies and she soon settled into the pace of the game linking up, passing and helpng defend.

Into the second half and Natasha and Cally made way as we sat Speedy back in front of Claire bringing back into the midfield Ailsa with Desiree Doogan taken over from Jodz in goal, giving her her second game at U17's. The Ladies started very well and within 3 minutes should have increased their advantage as a terrifc move had our striker 5 yards from goal but instead of hammering it home she opted for the side foot and the keeper gathered safely, minutes later another chance another miss but this time it was very unfortunate as Squeak's  shot skimmed passed the post, Cowden then came into the game and with 19 minutes left a  cross sneaked in under the bar to make the score 2.2, the Ladies then tried to up the tempo but Cowden's tails were up as they pinned the Ladies back, the Ladies weathered the storm and regained control of the game again creating some good chances but today the strikers just couldn't get thier shots to count, Natasha then came on for Terri who had picked up a knock, Jodz Clark then came on outfield to replace Karis, with 7 minutes to go the Ladies for the 3rd time regained the lead when a high threw ball was chased down by Rob's and a Cowden defender, Rob's harried the defenderand amazingly she headed the ball passed her own keeper, very unfortunate for Cowdenbeath who had put up a great effort, but on the balance of play no more nor no less than the Ladies deserved,

Ladies you were well below par today, too many players not switched on, we must ensure that we are raring to go on Tuesday when Jeanfield come calling and we  look foward to welcoming back Nadine Duffy, Chelsea Watson and Shaunni Lee Coleman, credit to you for getting the three points and you kept going to take the lead for the 3rd time in the game, it's the sign of a decent team when you do not play particularly well but still take all 3 points, The defence put in a terrific shift limiting Cowden 's goalscoring opportunities, To Cowdenbaeth you gave us a very hard game and your progress is excellent, you kept coming back at us and you are a very sporting group of players and Officials, we knew with your home results on your own surface that this was going to be a tough old game and so it proved, well done Cowdenbeath.

Special mention to Squeak and Des, excellent input and we hope to keep both of you involved with the U17 Ladies - well done girls

Sunday 31st May - Fundraiser for Umbro Cup - Perth Racecourse -  well done to all who attended.

Sunday 24th May - Tayside Ladies 3 Hibs Colts 0

Starting 11 - Clark - Macmillan - Thoms fearn - Cheetham (c) - Lynch - McGinley - R. Smith - Coleman - Watson - Peters

Back Up - Cameron - Buthchart

Goalscorers - R. Smith 2, Watson

POTM - Again Ladies many top performers today and every player played very well with Thomsy just shading it, well done Claire

Match Report -  Hibs Colts were our visitors today and on lookibng at thier current league results this was not going to be an easy game, especially with T. Smith, Dinee, Ailsa and Sarah all still out.

Hibs kicked off on a beautiful sunny day at Lochee Park and straight away the Ladies showed they were in the mood to play attacking football as the gathered and moved the ball well to create an opportunity down the left with messrs McGinley, Lynch and R. Smith involved in good link up play a  fine shot and save resulted, Hibs too passed the ball well but the Ladies back line was in no mood to let anyone get a clear shot at Jodz in the Ladies goal. Within the first ten minutes the Ladies had carved open the Hibs defence as againt they mounted an attack down the left with terrific link up play ended with Rob sending the ball into the left hand corner of the Hibs goal giving the Hibs goalie no chance ,1.0. Hibs came storming back and tried to break down the Ladies defence but again the back line for the Ladies had the no entry signs up and Hibs were kept to long range shots which didn't trouble Jodz in the Ladies goal.. The game ebbed and flowed and both teams were playing some nice passing football and it had became a very entertaining game, around the 25th minute mark the Ladies doubled thier lead this time good work in the midfield area and a pinpoint pass to Chelsea who played a quick one two with Danni before hitting a terrific shot into the net, Speedy was having another excellent game breaking up many Hibs moves and the back line of Macmillan-Fearn-Thoms and Cheetham were standing firm and mopping up any through balls, In the 33rd minute the Ladies should have increased their lead but a split second hesitation by the Ladies striker meant the through ball from Peters out wide eluded her when it only needed touched into the net, then the Hibs striker had a snapshot from 35 yards that narrowly went wide and high of the right hand corner of the Ladies goal. From the goalkick the Ladies again put together a terrific passing move and really should have made it 3.0 but credit to the Hibs keeper who pulled off a marvellous save to keep the scoreline at 2.0 to the Ladies. Shaunnie Lee then had to quickly track back and make a last ditch tackle in her own goalbox as for once the Hibs passing play created an opportunity for thier striker, Shaunni stretched and somehow touched the ball away from the Hibs strikers toes just as she was about to strike, from the resulting corner Jodz in goal calmly claimed the incoming ball. with a minute to go to half time another Ladies chance went a begging and as the Ref blew for half time would this opportunity to get the all important 3rd goal cost the Ladies dearly.

Into the second half and   Hibs to thier credit where by no means out of this game and still they tried to pass and play but clear cut chances at the Ladies goal were proving difficult to create, the Ladies made a change giving a well earned rest to Shaunni lee and bringing on Beth Cameron in her place. The game seemed the same pattern with the Ladies again creating 2 or 3 good goalscoring opportunities, with Chelsea being very unlucky around the 48th minute mark not to find the net then 3 minutes later Danni done the hard work beating 3 Hibs players before unluckily seeing the ball scrape the post on the way out for a corner, from the resulting corner another great cross by Danni seen Thomsy being unlucky to see her header narrowly go over the crossbar, suddenly Hibs started to exploit a gap in the Ladies left midfiled area and for the next 10 to 15 minutes or so they pushed the Ladies back but again the back line led by Thomsy kept Hibs at bay and a shot from outside the box was easily gathered by Jodz in the Ladies goal, in this period Hibs forced a trio of corners two of which Jodz dealt with and from the 3rd Hibs nearly pulled one back with the Hibs players header rising over the crossbar, the Ladies the took control again and at this point the Ladies brought on Natasha Butchart in place of Peters who had run herself into the ground, in the 68th minute another piece of intelligent play involving R. Smithy, Danni, Speedy and Chelsea resulted in Smithy getting her second of the game and the Ladies had scored the all important 3rd goal, this seemed to dishearten Hibs somewhat and the Ladies created another 3 good goalscoring opportunities but failed to make then count.

All in all Ladies a very good display against a very well organised and good footballing side, we are very pleased at the manner in which you approached this game, everybody from Jodz in goal to the strikers up front played thier part in a very good perfomance, well done to everyone today and it was great to see Beth playing as we know she can, well done everyone, player of the match went to Thomsy who simply had a brilliant game today missing nothing and letting no one passed.

To Hibs Colts you are a very entertaining side in your own right and you played your part in a very entertaining game of football, it was a pleasure to play you and your passing play and dedication was terrific, you will certainly give all the sides in our League tough games including us and we look forward to travelling to Edinburgh for our away tie against you, we send our thanks and applause, well done Hibs Colts.

Sunday 10th May - Tayside Ladies 8 Celtic Girls 1

Starting 11 - Doogan - Macmillan - Thoms - Cheetham (c) - Lynch - McGinley - T. Smith - R. Smith - Coleman - Watson - Peters

Back up - Cameron - Fearn - Aslam - Butchart

Goalscorers - Peters 2, R. Smith 2, McGinley 2, Watson, T. Smith

POTM - hard choice today for when we had to take the game seriously in the first half we had several terrific performances but the one who just shaded it being the warrior she is was SPEEDY - simply awesome performance

Match Report - Well the Ladies played host to our U17 club counterparts at Lochee Park today and we welcomed Desiree Doogan our U15B keeper into the side as Ladies usual suspect in goal Jodz was unavailable for the first time this year , messrs Duffy and Findlay also missing with injuries, as we neared kick off what was a beautiful day turned into a down pour as the heavens opened. How would the Ladies cope on a soaking wet surface and would they be able to get the ball down and play thier passing football  well the answer to this question was yes, the rain never stopped and the pitch became very heavy with pools of water everywhere but the Ladies kept playing thier passing game and scoring eight goals in such conditions is tyhe mark of a very good team, well done Ladies.

Too our younger counterparts you should hold your heads high you closed the Ladies down, made it difficult and kept on going and you fully deserved the goal you scored, you have improved since the start of the season and you will keep improving as the season goes on, scorelines this season are of no importance and bonding and shaping as a team for next seson is, the signs are already there that this is already happening so keep them heads up and have the belief in yourselves that as the season goes on  your commitment will result in rewards, you on this showing should be ready to compete for the East U17 League Title next season, special mention to Gemma ,Kerry and  Rebecca in goal, well done our young U17's and keep it going.

We must give special mention to Desiree Doogan who at U15 level is an extremely talented goalkeeper, Desiree will feature more as the season goes on and the Ladies players thought she was excellent today well done DESIREE

Sunday 3rd May - Murieston United 2 Tayside Ladies 3

Starting 11 -  Clark - Macmillan - Thoms - Lynch - Cheetham - McGinley - T. Smith - Watson - Aslam - Peters - R. Smith

Back Up - Coleman  - Butchart

Goalscorers -  McGinley 2 - Peters

POTM - McGinley excellent today

Match Report - .Again Ladies we had to go into a game missing 4 of our players. This game was a chance to redeem yourselves after last weeks drop in form, could you achieve a result weakened as you were, well at the start of the game we read out the team and informed you that today it was for the squad to show us you had the will to win and the endeavour to never give up the fight, we asked you all to help each other through the game and to organise and talk to one an other, did you do it well read on to find out

Right from the kick off the Ladies showed they meant business as again, ( in very strong winds) they got the ball on the ground and were passing it around, both teams were adapting to the conditions and it has to be said that Murie were also playing some good interlinking passing play, it was clear to see that this was going to be a good football match between two teams who want to get the ball down and play football, and so it turned out as the Ladies raced away into a 2 goal lead with 25 minutes played. Theyre had been chances at both ends but a clever passing move which ended in a smooth pass through to Peters who gave the keeper no chance from around 18 yards 1.0, then on the 22nd minute mark again after both teams had created good chances McGinley and Peters combined to carve a gap through the well organised Murie defence with Danni slotting home. 2.0, Murie came roaring back and another good build up ended with a shot well saved by Jodz in the Ladies goal, from the resulting corner Murie came close with a header that just went wide of the post, then in the 34th minute Murie were awarded a soft penalty when Thoms used her body strength to ease the ball safely over the bye line for a goal kick, sensationally the Ref pointed to the spot, and from this Murie were back in the tie as thier striker gave Jodz no chance with a very strongly hit shot 1..2 to the Ladies and game on again. The Ladies then took the game back to Murie and should have scored a further two goals but the Murie keeper to her credit saved both attempts well, then as the half time whistle approached a long ball down the middle caught out the Ladies defence  and although at that point no danger seemed likely indecision between keeper and defender let the Murie player toe poke the ball into the net, 2.2 terrific game.

Into the second half and both teams again were passing well and trying to break their opponents down, both were creating chances, and both should have scored more goals but keepers in both goals were having excellent games and it looked likely that one more goal for either team was going to win the tie, the Ladies twice had free kicks from the right hand side of the park struck perfectly at the target but the Murie keeper managed to tip one over the bar and hold the other, excellent stikes and excellent goalkeeping, another free kick from the left this time so Danni hit a very good shot which the keeper spilled but no Ladies player followed up and the Murie defence cleared the danger at this point around the 58th minute Coleman was introduced to strengthing the Ladies right midfield area with Watson moving up front and R Smith being given a well earned rest, up the other end Jodz had to be on her toes as an very good strike by a Murie midfielder seemed goalbound but again safe handling by the keeper meant it stayed 2.2, with 8 minutes to go the Ladies again created an excellent chance but just as she was about to knock the ball into the net it bobbled in front of her and Danni's chance was gone. The game never let up and both sides searched for the winner, with 3 minutes to play Danni again attacked her marker on the edge of the box, Danni played the ball through the defenders legs and as she went to collect the defender up ended her, the ref deemed it a penalty, Danni dusted herself down and took the responsibilty of taken the penalty, she calmly sent the ball into the net, but hold on a player had infringed the area and it had to be retaken, could Danni keep her nerve a second time yes she could as she thumped the ball into the left hand corner 2.3 to the Ladies, the game stayed this way as the Ref brought a close to one excellent game of football between two skillful and entertaining teams, what a match and Murie you are a very good team, you played some lovely football and kept going to the very end, well done girls.

To the Ladies well you responded to the questions that we asked about your concentration, will to win, passing and organisation we hope now you will believe and understand that in every game we need to keep playing for the entire 80 minutes no matter who the opponents are. You have shown today that you have all the qualities of a very good team and without doubt you have the skill, this was a very good win against a very well organised skillful team in awfull windy conditions but you got the ball down and played some very good football, you now need to show this in all our games you have proved you can do it so lets keep it going when we host Celtic Tayside on Sunday 10th May, well done LADIES no failures today and a very valuable 3 points..

Player of the Match goes to Danni McGinley who was quite simply unstoppable today and she covered most of the park well done DANNI.

Sunday 26th April - Tayside Ladies 2 Hutchie Vale  3

Starting 11 -  Clark - Macmillan - Thoms - Lynch - Cheetham - McGinley - T. Smith - Watson - Aslam - Peters - R. Smith

Back Up - Cameron - Butchart

Goalscorers -  McGinley 2

POTM - no one played well enough to be merited as POTM

Match Report - Ladies this is what happens when you allow your concentration to go, you were coasting this game and an incident occured in the 28th minute when the Ref had to talk to the Hutchie Coach, some foolish spectators and players thought this was funny, it wasn't and bang went your dominance as Hutchie grasped the nettle and deservedly went home with the 3 points, well done Hutchie. Ladies if we want to be in the top half of the League we are in we have got to be able to ignore interuptions in play and we definitely have to stop some of our spectators from having an influence over the way you are playing by continuosly talking to our players, this will be addressed at our next home game against Celtic Tayside on MAY 10TH. Before this game we have a tough away tie to play against Murieston United, Murie gave us a hard time in a friendly a few weeks back so we will have to be at our best, lets see if you can react in the positive and proper manner to this hicup and get back to winning ways, time will tell eh.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 22nd April - Jeanfield Saints 0 Tayside Ladies 2

Starting 11 - Clark - Macmillan - Fearn - Lynch - Cheetham - McGinley - T. Smith .-  Aslam - Wastson - R .Smith - Peters

Back Up - Cameron - Coburn - Tugman  - Butchart

Goalscorers - Watson - Cameron

POTM - Speedy - simply immense sitting in for Claire Thoms

Match Report - Well Ladies we had to travel to Perth for this League tie which had had 4 other proposed dates cancelled (ah not by us I may add) without 5 first team players but you all know we never shirk out of a game because of some players being unavailable like other teams do because we believe in all our players, and we believe our squad do not want us to pull out of a game they want to play football so off to Perth we went to face a Jeanfield Saints team which isn't simply an U15's team stepping up early as thier team line showed 92, 93 and 94 dates of birth just like ours, but we knew this and we knew the ex Perth City players who had joined them would be well up to try and beat some of thier old team mates, we also took along with us to Perth two off our ever improving U15's players Amy Coburn and Lyndsey Tugman to give them some experience of life in the U17's, and my did they get thier eyes opened wide tonight.

Before the game kicked off there was a slight wind blowing across the pitch and the sun came out to enlighting the events that were to unfold, our sponsor Sam Morsehead from Perth Racecourse came along as did the press and we had a wee pre game bit of fun as Sam challenged Jodz in goal to save his penalty kicks if she did Sam was again dipping into his pocket re his sponsorship towards the Umbro Cup trip, Jodz as usual didn't let Sam down and duly saved the kicks.

The game kicked off and Ladies we commend you for constantly trying to get that ball out of the air and onto the ground, in our opinion it seemed the Saints tactic was to lump high balls over the top for a pacy player to run onto, but hey everyone knows you lot have pace to burn so that tactic was dead in the water before it had begun and every time it came near the 30 yards to our goal area Macmillan, Fearn, Lynch or Cheetham simply mopped the ball up  and slipped it onto a midfielder, As time ticked away it was easy to see that the Saints were never going to pearce the Ladies defence although they did manage a corner or two but again Jodz dealt with them comfortably. It was also apparent that Saints were not yet used to the speed of U17's passing play as many late tackles were being committed, mind you we do not suggest for one minute that these late tackles were meant or had any malice attached it was obvious that it was simply because the Ladies passing play was quicker than what Saints have yet to get used too at U17's level. The Ladies who were in total control of the game scored a simply terrific goal around the 25th minute which was well worked and involved the midfield and attack with Chelsea Waston executing the move. More goals could have been scored before half time but hey so what you were totally in command and Jodz in goal hadn't had a save to make.

As the second half wore on and the Saints legs began too feel the pace of the game more after the ball had gone tackles were happening which was frustrating the Ladies players and causing injuries but again we understand it was simply because Saints are still adjusting to U17 football, still the high ball tactic was being used and still the Ladies simply mopped these up, in one very late tackle Cally Fearn was lucky to escape a broken leg as the Saints player miss timed her tackle after the ball had been passed and caught Cally's standing leg, we winced on the side as her leg arched and buckled underneath her, Cally reacted and was red carded as was the Saints player not only for the tackle but also for violent conduct, Cally apologised immediately which we accept, and although we cannot condone her red card and accept she merited it we are releaved that the injury she sustained isn't a broken leg. a few minutes later Karis Peters was next to feel the force of a late tackle and again we know no intent was meant, but Karis had to come off as a result of the injury, Beth Cameron an able replacemnet took Karis's place upfront. Five minutes later it was Kirsty Lynch who was next too be on the receiving end of a miss timed tackle and even though she sustained cuts to her hamstring area she as the warrior she is did not want to come off, then the Ladies killed the game as again another well worked chance was created and Beth Cameron cool as ice placed the ball into the net, 2.0 game over and the Ladies simply played the game out.

Too the players Jodz in goal handled the 4 or 5 high corners perfectly and wasn't troubled all game, spurred her team on with encouragement and organised her back line.

Defence - Macmillan - Fearn - Lynch - Cheetham well Saints did not get a shot at goal all game, so that lets you know how this lot played brilliant, also dealt with the miss timed tackles as best they could, which is hard to do when it's your legs that are getting clobbered, Rachel led by example brilliant Captain, Speedy simply the best player on the park by a mile especially when you think she has never played as centre half in place of Claire Thoms before, Danielle  back to being what she is a terrific defender welcome back, Cally great game silly to react understandable but not condoned, Cally knows and she will learn from her red card experience, one thinks she already has.

Midfield - McGinley - T Smith - Asalm - Watson pass and move play was excellent, dealt with the physical tackles and created some terrific opportunities, Danni your link up play and ball skills were excellent and you also tracked back and helped out at the back, Terri another top class performance and you seem to raise the level every game you play, Ailsa your stamina improves every game and no one would believe you have been out for two years, Chelsea unbelievable performance you even calmed the players down when tempers were at the limit because of the late tackles.

Strikers - Smith, Peters and Cameron  Ladies you took a hell of a lot of late tackles and rough treatment and you have to be commended for keeping going for the entire game Robyn you never gave up and you ran and never gave the Saints back line peace, Karis you harried all game and put in the tackles to stop the Saints lumping high balls from defence down the park, Beth well lets see more of you playing like this we no you have what you gave today within your capabilities and you scored an excellent goal.

Too Saints you are not a bad team and you made it difficult for us tonight, in our opinion once you get used to the pace of U17's football I'm sure the miss timed tackles will be eradicated from your game, you should also try to get the ball on the ground more as in knowing some of your players you can play passing football I've seen you do it and you will trouble many teams in this League, the Ladies do not lose many goals and to score against them you have to try and break them down as is the case with most of the teams you will meet in this League, high balls over the top of teams at U17's level against the teams in this very tough League will not get you the goals you require to win games, but I am sure you will improve as your season progresses as you do have some very good players, we are looking forward to welcoming you to Dundee on the 31st May 2009, in fact the players can't wait as they enjoyed the game against you and are relishing, anticipating and looking forward to the return match with so much enthusiasm they wish it was on Sunday, well done to you Jeanfield Saints you have given our players a hugely positive motivation factor, a factor that could have only came from being involved in a game such as the one tonight, perfect. Oh the usual suspects that missed out tonight because of injury and Scotland Duty namely Shaunni Lee Coleman, Nadine Duffy, Sarah Finlay and Claire Thoms were so frustrated to have missed this one and all add that they are all looking foward to being back and injury free for Jeanfiled Saints visit to Dundee., nice.

Match report - Cowdenbeath had beaten Forfar 4.0 in the Scottish Cup and also beaten Jeanfield Saints 3.0 in the League so they were a much improved team from the opponents we had played last season and it was very important that we got off to a quick start, again in windy but at last dry conditions the Ladies kicked off and straight away they were in the mood to play passing football, with 3 minutes on the clock Terry won the ball out on the left chipped it over a Cowdenbeath players head to Chelsea who headed it back into Terry's path who sent in an excellent ball to Karis who rifled home, 1.0, 7 minutes later Danni sent over a terrific corner which Karis helped onto to the back post and Terry slotted home, 2.0 . the ladies started to dominate but over the next 10 minutes wasted 2 or 3 good opportunities to increase thier lead. in the 25th minute Robyn collected a good pass from midfield and found Danni on the edge of the box, Danni cheekily wrong footed the defender with a neat back heel and hit the ball first time into the corner, 3.0. The Ladies were dominating the game but wasted several goalscoring opportunities before the half time whistle blew.

into the second half and a change in formation as the Ladies went three at the back and 5 across the middle, Ailsa coming on to bolster the middle of the park with Cally who had a good first half making way, in the 44th  minute the game was over as again Robyn, after good work from right to left, picked up the ball far out on the left near the corner flag, clever footwork saw her ease past her marker and she sent in an excellent cross which Chelsea met, 4.0. Cowdenbeath opted for a high ball tactic playing with the wind but the defence of Coleman, Thoms and Cheetham were dealing comfortably with any balls over the top and any that were hit long Jodz in goal caught with ease, in the 55th minute another very well worked goal arrived as Danni collected the ball slightly infield from her usual wing position, Danni passed to Terri who chipped it onto Robyn who headed it back into the on running Danni who slotted home 5.0, in the 63rd minute Shaunni who had an excellent game made way for Speedy, The Ladies still pushed forward but again several goalscoring opportunities were passed up, in the 67th minute a perfect through ball let Robyn run in on goal and as the keeper advanced Smithy coolly sent the ball under her and into the net 6.0, this then allowed us to get Natasha involved for the last 15 minutes as Karis came off for a well earned rest Natasha did very well in her first ever involvemnet with the Ladies team,, the Ladies created another 3 or 4 good opportunities to increase thier lead but some slack finishing ment the scoreline ended 6.0 to the Ladies.Special mention for Nadine who had a very good game today and even though she never got on the scoresheet she tackled passed and dribbled all game. Cowdenbeath did have a couple of good chances in the second half but Jodz was in no mood to let the ball get by her and into the net today, also to Cowdenbeaths credit is the way they never gave up and kept trying to the final whislte one can see how they beat forfar and Jeanfield Saints as they had a brilliant attitude today.

Some very good football Ladies and you did dominate the game, just a small minus we have got to finish more of the chances we create, today in total you had 23 goalscoring opportunities, we must learn to make our chances count as in the weeks ahead we will not get that many chances in a game and the ones we do we will have to convert, but that's being highly critical as you did play some excellent football today and thoroughly deserved the 3 points, well done to everyone. P.S Never before has it been known for a team to go though an entire match without being awarded a free kick for a foul tackle, today was that day Ladies strange but true eh.

Match Report - Poor at times very good at times and Jodz never had a save to make in the first half today,  it is not often we will give away two own goals and a penalty kick in one game and have more possesion than our opponents and when that happens Ladies how can we come out on top this coupled with having to play on a Saturday morning and the fiasco of the minibus and the wind and sleet making it awfull conditions means we are better forgetting this one altogether and moving on too our next home game against Cowdenbeath, Smithy scored a stunning goal. Let's not forget East End who are a very good team and as we do like to get the ball down and play passing football, they deserve to be in the next round and we wish them the best, they are talented, sporting and very nice people to know and play against..

Match Report  - to follow - Hey Ref  one cannot be offside when ones opposition has a player standing on the goal line - perfectly legitimate goal Claire.

What an absolutely tough tie this game was, we travelled to Livingston with a depleted squad and arrived with only 11 players, would it take it's toll on the heavy pitch or were the Ladies fitter than we thought, - as we got started it was very obvious that the Ladies were having an off day as pass after pass went astray, credit though for not letting us settle must go to the Murieston Girls who won nearly every 50-50 and header in the first half, The Ladies deservedly went a goal behind after 2 defenders decided to let the other clear a simple ball, the Murieston striker wasted no time in saying thankyou very much and a quick pass and the ball was in the net, 0.1 to Murie, at this stage it was no more than the home team deserved as they had been the hungrier team in the first 30 minutes. The goal though seemed to give the Ladies a kick up the backside and slowly but surely they started to ease thier way into the game, in the 38th minute thier tenacity paid off when Danni slid in to send the ball home after good work by Speedy who sent a terific pass into her path, 1.1 at half time, the Ladies at this point could count themselves slightly fortunate to be level as Murie had been the better side in the first half.

As the second half got under way for the first 10 minutes it looked as if the Ladies hadn't learned thier lesson from the first half but suddenly they awoke from thier nightmare and soon had Murieston on the back foot, inteligent play from midfield spreading the ball out wide was giving the  Ladies the upper hand, although Murieston were still a danger on the counter attack and created goalscoring opportunities of thier own but Jodie in the Ladies goal was dealing with everything that came her way and the 4 in front of her were now up for the game tackiling and pushing Murie up into thier own half, around the 64th minute after a quick passing move from right to left saw Smithy home in on goal, Smithy as she does calmly rifled the ball into the net and the Ladies now had thier noses in front. The game raged on and tackles fair as they were were not for the faint hearted, the Ladies continued to press Murie back and thier fitness Levels even though it was early pre season seemed to give them control of the game, 7 minutes from time the Ladies were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Murie box after thier keeper picked up a back pass, the ball was laid off to Claire Thoms 9 yards from goal and she made no mistake, Murie then came back at the Ladies but by now the Ladies had control and the defence dealt with any breakaway's that Murie had, all in all one very tough game and we must admit Murie were by far the better team in the first half, - credit though to the Ladies because even on an off day you are able to roll your sleeves up dig in weather the storm and come out on top, so for that alone well done but we must learn that we will not get away with lack lustre displays in the first half of other games.

Sunday 18th January - Tayside Ladies 2 Hutchie Vale 1

Match Report - Well Ladies our season start finally arrived as we welcomed Hutchie Vale from Edinburgh to Lochee Park, Hutchie had by all accounts a terrific season in the U17 CSEW League so this was going to be one helluva tough game and so it proved.

Both teams  in windy conditions on an exceptioanlly bumpy pitch tried to get the ball on the floor and play football, with the Ladies creating 3 very good goalscoring chances in the first 20 minutes, but good goalkeeping by the Hutchie keeper kept the score at 0.0, the Ladies started to dominate the game and were starting to pass the ball about very well especially down the left flanks. 35 minutes had gone when the Ladies finally made the breakthrough that thier play merited and it was well worth the wait as they collected the ball deep on the right inside thier own half and a blistering move let in Watson, Chelski calmly gathered before unleashing a curling shot passed the keeper into the left hand side of the goal, a terrific goal that was well worked from front to back 1.0 to the Ladies. Hutchie treid to get back in the game and a snap shot from the right hand side just glided onto the top off the Ladies crossbar and out for a goalkick, the Ladies defence were standing firm.

Into the second half and the Ladies again took up where they had left off in the first half creating quite a few opportunities but couldn't make the chances count until in the 68 minute  and  another well worked move this time down the left which let in Smithy who as we witnessed last season knows were the net is, Smithy duly obliged and last season's top goalscorer was off and running 2.0 to the Ladies, Hutchie came roaring back and had a half chance in the 72nd minute but Jodie's safe hands in ther Ladies goal ensured it stayed at 2.0, the Ladies then should have finished off the game but somehow  after creating a good opportubity the ball went just wide off the post minutes later another one on one goalscoring chance was lost when the Ladies player scuffed her shot wide, With 4 minutes to go Hutchie pulled one back after a bit off good fortune when a defelcted pass let a Hutchie forward shoot from outside the box, she hit in cleanly and it sailed passed Jodie in the Ladies goal 2.1, the Ladies did not panick and comfortably controlled the last few minutes as Hutchie tried the up and over the top tactic, the whistle went and the Ladies had started off this season as they had left last - WINNERS.

Hutchie were a very tough physical team to play but the Ladies passing play which seen them create a dozen or so clear goalscoring opportunities won in the end .At the end of the day a very good victory Ladies and you all played your part today and everyone from Jodz in goal to Smithy up front played very well, only negative is we need to finnish more of the chances we create, we should have put this game to bed early in the second half. Let's now focus on next weeks task as we head off up to Aberdeen to play East End. Well done LADIES!!!

"Senior Friends = Senior Link"

We have now finalised plans with Dundee City with regards to our senior U17 team joining forces with them over the coming months with the aim of creating a second team to enter the senior League structure in season 2010.

Mandy the Manageress of  Dundee City will be intergrating the senior Club players into her training over the coming weeks, this process once complete will mean all U17 Tayside Ladies players will attend senior training, this process will allow Tayside players and City players to intergrate smoothly, help our players get used to the demand of senior training and give us a great boost for when we finally move to become the second team of the senior link. Currently some of our more senior players who cannot play for us because of age are working to gain a place in the current Dundee City team.

This link is a tremendous positive for us which has created a pathway for all future players into senior league football and every season the senior team players at the Club will be offered the same opportunity to attend the senior training with a view to moving into senior football when thier U17's career comes to an end.

We look forward to a long lasting positive relationship with Dundee City, from here the only way is up.

"CROSSROADS"

Tayside Ladies now find themselves at a crossroads in thier footballing futures, after last season's East League win we for the future development of our players and thier progress will have to decide on what path our team goes down, this is a crucial decision for some of the best talents in the East, we have decided that we cannot possibly take our players to a higher level if we do not have them playing in a competitive enviroment. Winning League's and Cup's is only a bonus for us thier Coaches and the players themselves - what is more important and most certainly crucial to our players progression is that we play in an enviroment where they are tested week in week out, this is the only way we can possibly achieve our players and thier parents aims and objectives of playing at the highest level and hopefully going on to represent thier Country in the National Squads, as some already have.

Monday 16th February 2009 - and our path is now crystal clear we are to compete in the South East U17 League, this shall give our players the much needed competitive games that will help progress them onto the next Level, this is a decsion that we welcome and are looking forward to playing in an enviroment where our players are tested to the full week in week out -
