Match Report -  We landed at Balfield without key defenders Chloe Moore and Rachel Cheetham who have both been out injured for the passed couple of weeks and Alanna Carroll and Robyn McKlevie. Well Ladies as expected with you needing to win this game to clinch the League title the Panthers came calling with several different faces from the last time we played them up in Forfar, 3 of the players they came down with were exceptionally tall and strong, and they also had the best of  another Forfar team in thier line up, wee Sandra was a surprise as well, but hey Ladies it was good to get a  challenge and they certainly made life difficult for you today, but as always Ladies football skill always prevails and so it came to pass and once you got the ball down and played the outcome was never going to be in doubt, the first goal took around 15 minutes to come as Chelksi was sent through on goal with a defence splitting pass she kept her cool and stuck it away, before this goal you had created a few good opportunities but passed them up.

The Panthers were still making life difficult and to thier credit were playing some good football aswell so the second goal was going to be vital, chance after chance came and Debbie in the Forfar goal pulled of some fine saves .10 minutes before half time and another good move again let in Chelski, Chelski again kept her cool and the Ladies were 2 up., this settled you down and your passing was causing the Panthers all sorts of problems, 3 minutes before half time and Danni McGinley was alert as she collected a clearance some 25 yards out and sent it rocketing back into the net., this made it 3 goals to nil and the Ladies were on thier way to the League Championship.

Into the second half and for the first 10 minutes the game ebbed and flowed with both sides creating chances but both keepers were up for it and dealt with any shots on target, suddenly the Ladies changed up a notch and terrific interlinking play saw them create several opportunities before finally killing off the game in the 58th minute as Rhea Thomson who was having another excellent game finished off a move that started at the back with Sarah Finlay and ended up with Rhea heading home, great goal which effectively killed off the game as a contest,  Beth Cameron then came on for Dinee who had picked up a knock on her hip, The Panthers then created 2 or 3 goalscoring opportunities but the safe hands of Jodie Clark in the Ladies goal ensured nothing was ending up in the back of her net From one such Panthers attack in the 70th minute again the Ladies defence won the ball and a few passes later Smithy got the goal that her play merited as she coolly tucked the ball away which gave her her 35th goal of the season. Claire Thoms then hit a cracking drive and was unlucky to see it rebound of the bar and away for a goal kick, Chelski was next to see lady luck desert her after  a good build up Chelski skipped passed the Panthers defence and  sent her shot netbound only to see her attempt also come   back off the bar. With 4 minutes left the Ladies got number six as this time again after a good pasing move Claire Thoms calmly collected  the ball skipped passed a defender and slotted the ball into the corner of the net.

Well Ladies you are the CHAMPIONS and you truly deserve the accolade, you had to deal with a tough tackling performance from the Panthers who tried to upset your passing play, they did make it tough and they did play some decent football themselves but the Ladies only had one thought in mind today and that was to wrap up the U17 Title, they did , well done Ladies.

Also well done to the Panthers, this was our hardest and toughest test to date, they came and had a go and Neil has got them playing some good football, we look forward to the upcoming cup ties against them with relish.

Sunday 09th November  Aberdeen United 1 Tayside Ladies 4

Ladies Goalscorers - McGinley 2, Smith , Thoms

POTM -  Clark

Match Report -  This was a difficult challenge match against a very good and well organised Aberdeen side.

Sunday 02nd November - Tayside Ladies v Forfar Farmington - Well Ladies and Forfar how sad is it that this game did not go ahead because of the Referee failing to appear, the Official who had been appointed by the SFA for this game did not even have the common decency to contact us to let us know that they would not be attending, much to the annoyance of players, parents, and Coaches from both teams, the Local press and the SFA Regional Manager Ian Lowe who had all travelled from Brechin, Forfar, Montrose, Arbroath, Dundee, Perth, Blairgowrie and Bridge of Earn for what should have been the U17's League decider. Questions must surely be asked by the SFA regarding compensating not only the people who had travelled from the afore mentioned places but also the Club's who again have been badly let down by the Referee's Association.

Tayside Ladies will now have the chance to wrap up the U17 League title at home on the 16th November when they host Farmington Panthers at Balfield Park k/o 11.00am, lets look forward to that day Ladies and keep focused on the job in hand because Neil's team will be no push overs and will be ready when they come calling, they are a team who like to get the ball down and play and we will have to be at our best to get the result that we want.

POTM -  Danni McGinley - Absolutely outstanding today

Match Report -  Another excellent all round performance, with some breathtaking football on display, the passing and moving link up play was a joy to watch and  some of the goals you scored today were stunning with terrific build up play, Big Jim's words after the game were "Ladies you were different class", which for the comment we are grateful, , a few weeks back we had a similiar performance and Robyn Smith and Danni McGinley were both deserving of the accolade of POTM, with Robyn just edging out Danni,, today again everyone that played had a great game and this time round many of you could have been named POTM with Robyn Danni and Speedy aka Kirsty Lynch just standing out that wee bit ahead of the rest, Robyn's link up play and finishing was nothing short of marvellous and Speedy's tenacious tackling ensured any attacks from the opposition were quickly stopped as she played the holding role in front of the defence brilliantly, but this week it goes to Danni who's over all contribution today was exceptional , Danni tracked back, tackled, dribbled, crossed balls into the box from out wide, put over some great corners, link upped well with every other player in a Ladies jersey and even found time to chip in with two goals, well done Danni you were in top class form today. Special applause also goes to Alanna Carroll who worked her socks of today holding the ball up perfectly all game  which allowed the Ladies midfield to push forward and join attacks, well done A.C..

Special mention also to the young Celtic Tayside Girls who never gave up the ghost and kept going the entire match, girls it's not all simply just about winning it's also about attitude  and today you had it in abundance, so well done, Your star player was Rebecca Johnstone who' had a great game in goal and her positional sense, handling and shot stopping was excellent today well done Rebecca.

Sunday 19th October - Training Balfield Park 10.30am , to all 14 who managed to attend today - well done it was a very hard session and most of you  put a lot of effort and hard work in today, you will all reap the rewards come next Sunday's game

Sunday 12th October -Glendale Ladies 1 Tayside Ladies U17 6

Starting 11 - Clark - Macmillan - Fearn  - Moore - Cheetham - Thoms - Lynch - McGinley Thomson - Smith - Duffy

Back Up - Millar - Watson - Cameron

Unavailable - Finlay - Carroll - McKelvie - Dewar

Ladies Goalscorers - Smith 2, McGinley 2, Thoms, Watson.

Match Report -  With a free week this weekend we thought it was time to test the U17 Ladies at a higher level so we arrange a fixture away from home to a Ladies team playing in the senior leagues, it would give us an insight of how far we have came and how far we have still to go as our thoughts turn towards moving into the senior leagues in the not to distant future. We travelled to Glendales home park still missing 4 players but welcomed back Chelsea Watson and Beth Cameron both whom had been away on holiday.

Tayside Ladies started the match very positively and within the first 10 minutes should have taken the lead after creating 3 good chances, a minute later after good link up play down the left Danni McGinley found herself with time to slot the ball home, 5 minutes later and the green machine had doubled thier advantage and again after some neat passing Danni was on hand to send the ball into the net. Chelsea Watson came on to give Rhea Thomson a rest after she picked up a slight knock, going on as a striker with Nadine Duffy dropping back into her more familiar right mid slot. With 25 minutes played Robyn Smith picked up the ball on the right and skipped past her marker sending the ball in field to Nadine Duffy who in a crowded area picked out a superb pass to Claire Thoms standing some 30 yards from goal, Claire looked up and sent a thunderous drive into the top left hand corner, 3.0, Glendale at this point were finding it difficult to cope with the pace of the Ladies front line. Robyn Smith then scored a delightful goal that her play deserved as she had been tirelessly causing the Glen's defence all sort of problems and again it was a well worked goal with a terrific execution. Nadine Millar came on in the centre half berth next to Cally Fearn with Chloe Moore coming off for a pit stop. Rhea Thomson then went on in the right mid position with Nadine Duffy making way. We kept on changing the personel in the attacking midfield and up front from this point on to keep it fresh as the physical strength of the older woman were taking it's toll, but it didn't hamper theLadiesand again a fifth goal was imminent, and again it was a beauty after a couple of passes Claire Thoms found herself in space looked about and picked out a superb pass to Chelsea Waston, Chelsea still had a lot to do 25 yards from goal and with a 6 foot defender about to slide her she cool as ice chipped the keeper from 16 yards.5.0. It wasn't all about the attackers though as the defence line and Jodie Clark who's handling was superb all game kept out anything that Glendale created, Glendale then had a good spell for 20 minutes of the second half and had the Ladies defending deep in thier own territory during this spell Glendale created 4 or 5 opportunity's from shot's outside the box but the 3 on target were dealt with comfortably by Jodie, with about 15 minutes to go Chloe Moore broke up a Glendale attack and cleared the ball which hit the Referee on the back and landed right at the feet of a Glendale attacker who fired a first time unstoppable shot passed the exposed Jodie in the ladies goal, 5.1, The Ladiesdid not like losing this goal and once again found thier composure to mount some attacks at the Glendale goal, Glendale to thier credit were defending better but the Ladies should have scored one or two more goals when one on one opportunity's went a begging, with 6 minutes left the Ladies finnished of the way they had started with another excellent goal after good build up play and a superb through ball let Robyn Smith in on goal Robyn looked at the goalkeeper's position before slotting the ball home 6.1 to the Ladies

POTM - The accolade could have went to Rachel Cheetham or Rhea Thomson who both played brilliantly today but special mention to "Speedy" aka Kirtsy Lynch  - simply a warrior for her team and put in countless tackles and distributed the ball exceptionally well today, kept going the entire 80 minutes and has come on leaps and bounds, well done Speedy you also showed today that you have matured on tthe football field keeping your composure after some hefty challenges from the opposition.

An absolutely brillaint reuslt and you all passed this test of a gamewith flying colours, to play a Ladies team with 17 to 27 year old's in thier ranks with our team that  has 13, 14, 15 and 16 year olds and win by 6 goals to 1 away from home is a good pointer on how far you have a came as a team from the start of preseason  way back in June at Murieston's Tournament til now, you were comfortable on the ball and out played a much older team, you coped well with the physical strength of an older team and it was pleasing to see you all keep your composure when the going got tough, the next few months will blend you into an even better unit and squad of girls than you are at present but it is clear to see that you are now all very capable of taken the next step up and playing at a higher level, well done to everyone today.

Sunday 5th October 2008 - Cowdenbeath Ladies0 Tayside Ladies 10 (ten)

Ladies Goalscorers -  Smith 4 - Duffy 3 - Thoms 2 - McGinley

POTM -  again Ladiesyou all played well today and it could have went to any of the midfielders or strikers but Nadine Duffy was mesmerising to watch today so the accolade this week goes to her, well done!!!!

Match Report -  With Cowdenbeath learning and improving fast we had to go to Beath High School completely focused on the job in hand, we were still without jet setters Carroll, Finlay and Cameron whilst out injured were Watson, McKlevie, Dewar and Douny, so once again we arrived at Beath Hgh with a skeleton squad of 12.

The Ladies attitude in the warm up was spot on and you took this into the game from the off scoring a neat goal after 90 seconds, at times during the firts period your interlinking play was terrific and you were rewarded with a comfortable half time lead of 6 goals to nil with messers Smith, McGinley, Duffy, Thoms and Thomson causing Cowdenbeath all sorts of problems with thier pace and intelligent interlinking play whilst the back line of Macmillan, Moore, Fearn and Cheetham backed up brilliantly by Lynch kept the Cowdenbeath attack's away from Clark in goal.

The second half again some good football was played but not just by the Ladies, Cowdenbeath also had a 10- 15 minute spell in the game where their football merited a goal and they were only denied by two top class saves from Millar who had taken over from Clark in goals at half time. Clark came on for a run outfield as we took off a defender and went three at the back with Lynch taken over the sweeper's role, the Ladies upped the tempo and went on to score 4 more goals which were deserved and another very good victory is recorded. On the down side was the amount of times that we were caught offsides today, simply no need we need to be able to understand and sit half a yard off the last defender Ladies, but that is not a negative just an observation and something we shall go over at training, all in all another very good team performance, well done Ladies.

Credit to an improving Cowdenbeath side who never gave up and showed they too can get the ball down and play some decent football, also it was terrific to play a team who's manner was top class and showed 100% sportsmanship towards thier opponents, so refreshing and excellent to be involved in games against a team such as Cowdenbeath Girls.

Sunday the 21st September 2008 Forfar Farmington 0 Tayside Ladies  4-

Ladies Goalscorers -  Smith 2 - McGinley 2

POTM -  every player today you all were immense

Match Report -  Well Ali and I thought this was going to be a tricky tie with 7 squad players missing because of Holiday's , Injuries and Illness but you went up to Forfar with a skeleton squad of 12 and simply blew them away, the defence line of Macmillan - Moore - Fearn and Cheetham and goalkeeper Jodie Clark simply never let anything pass, and in 80 minutes of football Forfar never created a clear cut opportunity on goal, they did have two  efforts on goal after dubious free kicks had been awarded, excellent and another clean sheet Ladies, the midfield of Thoms - Duffy - McGinley and Lynch passed Forfar off the park and the makeshift front line of firstly  in the first half Watson and Smith and then Millar ( who is our other top class goalkeeper but played outfield today because of our depleted squad) and Smith in the second had too much class and speed for the Forfar defence, Ladies you could have won by many more goals with some missed opportunities and good goalkeeping  from the Forfar goalkeeper but if truth be told this was a 4.0 hammering and you can all hold your heads up high, you didn't lose your discipline or respond to abusive comments from spectators, you never got pulled into a high ball game, you never let the physical contact disturb you and you won this game with plenty to spare.

The most pleasing moment of the afternoon was when Forfar were again awarded an extremely soft free kick in front of our goal after Cally had simply taken the ball away from a Forfar attacker, you won the ball from the freekick and several passes later the ball was in the back of the Forfar net, game over. well done to every one of you that took part today, you have showed that we have strength and skill in depth no matter who is out or in for one reason or another, we can now look forward to the second round of fixtures, starting at Cowdenbeath on October 5th.

Sunday 14th September 2008 - Tayside Ladies 10 (ten) Celtic Tayside U17 0

Back Up - Millar - Thomson - Duffy - Lynch

Unavailable -  McKelvie - Daouny - Dewar

Ladies Goalscorers -  Robyn Smith 3 - Alanna Carroll 2 - Chelsea Watson 2 - Nadine Duffy - Danni McGinley - Claire Thoms

POTM - Sarah Finlay - simply excellent in the heart of defence which limited the opposition to a couple of half chances, Sarah let her football do the talking to those that doubted her and her teamate's  talent's.

Match Report -  Another absolutely outstanding display from every Lady player that took part today,  on a hot sticky day when it was difficult for both sides at times your attacking passing play mesmerised the opposition and was marvellous to watch, the defence simply stood tall the entire game and never really let the oppostion create a clear cut opportunity so well done on a clean sheet Danielle Macmillan, Sarah, Cally, Rachel and both Goalies Jodie and Nad's. We also had the added bonus of allowing Cally Fearn to sit in beside big Sarah to gain experience in the centre half position, and both our top class keepers got a game outfield with Jodie going between the sticks in the first half and Nadine coming on midway through the first 40 for Rachel who was playing teriffic but is carrying a foot injury then Nad's went in between the sticks in the second half with Jodie coming on up front to give Alanna Carroll a well earned rest Rachel then went back on in her usual left back slot and played the rest of the game perfectly even with a sore foot., Claire Thoms ran the show in the middle of the park and Chelsea Watson had her best game of the season her footwork was top drawer and she was linking up well with Danni McGinley, Beth Cameron, Robyn Smith and Alanna Carroll who all played exceptional football today, we changed the team a lot today and Nadine Duffy and Rhea Thomson came on in the first half and both slotted in easily to the atttacking play that was on display, Nadine was ghosting past players as if they were not on the park and she had a lot to do with the creation of numerous chances., to some of the goals well many were really well worked with intelligent passing and movement off the ball to create space, two goals that were most pleasing were firstly one from set play that we practice at training, Rhea Thomson took a corner on the right flighted it pefectly to where it was meant to go and striker Alanna Carroll outmuscled the opposing defender to bullet a header home, the other was breathtakingly brilliant football from back to front as Jodie rolled it out to team Captain Danieelle Macmillan who passed it along the line to Beth  Cameron who played a one two with Claire Thoms, Beth then returned the ball to Claire  who cleverly switched play and fed it to Chelsea Watson who in turn spun  her marker before sending the ball out wide left to Danni McGinley, Danni then instinctively flicked the ball across field into the path of Robyn Smith who smashed the ball into the let hand corner, 7 passes from front to back a switch of direction twice and an excellent finnish, terrific goal and summed up the Ladies day well done everyone.

Let's now look forward to our trip back up to Forfar to play Forfar Farmington, again Ladies we have to arrive in Forfar focused and switched on from the off.

Ladies Goalscorer - Smith 4 - Carroll 2 - Thoms 2 - McGinley - Duffy - Watson

POTM - Close call but Robyn Smith just pipped Danni McGinley to the accolade

Match Report - On a terrible pitch aptly named The Myre where the grass had not been cut and was so small it was more like a seven a side venue the Ladies still managed to play some decent football and create space for themselves, in the first half at times it wasn't pretty football  but under the circumstances one had to be happy as the Ladies came of with a 5.0 half time lead. Forfar to thier credit were trying to play  the passing game aswell and created some half chances with some good play from Vicky Stoddard, anything on target though was comfortably dealt with by Jodie in the Ladies goal.

Into the second half and the Ladies changed goalies, Nadine taking over in goal, From a corner Forfar pulled one back when the inswinging cross decieved the Ladies keeper and ended up  in the net, This spurred on Forfar and  a few minutes later a decent shot that the Ladies keeper seemed to have covered somehow managed to squirm into the net, this woke the Ladies up and they quickly restored thier 5 goal advantage after inteliigent passing play from back to front got them thier 6th and moments later another fine move made it seven,  several subsitutions where made from this point on, the Ladies continued to bombard the Forfar goal and with 15 minutes left had made it 11.2, Jodie then got an outing up front coming on for Alanna Carroll as the Ladies  changed the team, with Nadine Duffy coming back on for Robyn Smith who had an outstanding game and Rhea Thomson  re- entering the game in place of Danni McGinley again another who had a terrific game.

All in all Ladies a job well done on a small terrible playing surface in windy conditions, only down side was losing the two goals we shouldn't be giving teams gifts, lets keep the momentum going as Celtic tayside U17B come visting this Sunday.

POTM  - Danilelle Macmillan, Captains performance

On a day when we never really played the flowing passing football that was evident in last week game against St Johnstone you still managed to get the job done exceptioanlly well, we missed a lot of chances in the first half and came off 5 nil up with one goal in particular standing out after fine passing play, in the second half it took a goal from the visitors to kick start you off but once you got going you went on to score some very good goals, Smithy ended up with a double hatrick and once Claire Thoms went up front in the latter part of the second half she too managed to grab a double hatrick by adding 5 to the one she scored in the first half, Dinee got herself a brace and Junior added one to her growing tally, all in all Ladies your Coaches are delighted the way you have started the season with 25 goals for and 1 against in the first 2 fixtures, when you take into account we had five talented players unavailable it lets you see the strength in depth we have in the squad.

Player of the match this week goes to Team Captain Danielle MacMillan  who had a great game even with an injury as did all of the back 3, Jodie Clark in goals again showed what a fine goalie she is, Kirsty Lynch again done the grafting in the middle and Cally Fearn who was having her second outing put in a great shift, the strikeforce well the goals tell you how well you all did, all in all everyone played thier part in a resounding victory, well done Ladies, lets keep focused for next week's trip to play Forfar Farmington Panthers.

Ladies Goalscorers - Claire Thoms 4 - Danni McGinlay 2 - Robyn Smith 2 - Alanna Carroll - Nadine DuffyAwesome SquadPerformance

This was an awesome performance and even though we credited POTM to Claire Thoms for the computer system, every single Tayside Ladies player was POTM, this was a stunning squad performance with a breathtaking display of passing football. Once we went 4.0 ahead we gave our other top class keeper a run outfield and Nadine showed she is more than capable of being in that position, in the second half we then put Nad's between the sticks and gave Jodie Clark our other top class keeper a go at playing striker, once we went 8.0 up this was our opportunity to give a trial to Cally Fearn who came on and showed that she wants to be part of this squad with no nonsense tackling and good distribution, also in this game a new left back was born Rachel Cheetham was outstanding in her first outing in this position.

Our tough pre season has done us well and we have kicked off the LEAGUE campaign in devastating form. The goals well quite simply put were all excellent and one that stands out is the terrific goal that started with a quick goal kick out to team Captain Danielle who slipped it onto Beth then onto Claire who passed a defender before rocketing a shot passed Bobby into the St Johnstone goal, another was a solo by Nadine Duffy who collected a good pass some 40 yards from goal then waltzed passed 5 Saints players before slipping the ball into the corner of Bobby's goal, girls they were all terrific goals today and it was a truly teriffic squad performance, had Bobby not been in such good form in the Saints goal the scoreline could have easily been double.

Now it's a home tie next Sunday against Cowdenbeath, lets keep up the good work, well done everyone.

"Players Recognition"

July the 18th 2007 - Scotland U17 Team - Congratulations goes to Claire Thoms from the U17's Ladies team, Claire has been selected for another Cap and will travel with the Scotland U17 Squad  for the upcoming game against Germany, well done CLAIRE.

CYP Trials - June 14th Prestwick - see's Natalie Burns and Claire Godsall trial for the CYP U19 Scotland team, we send both girls our CONGRATULATIONS as the new's comes through that both of these young Ladies impressed the judges and will represent thier Country in the upcoming international Competition in Ireland, well done Ladies!!!

U15 Regional & Development Trials - Kilgraston School Bridge of Earn - It was alway's going to be a hard call for our young U13's who had to move up an age level and compete with established U15's Development and Regional Squad players, for the girls who never made it this time you now have the experience of the trials and you have a target of what you must do to ensure at the next trials you all make the squad's, but the terrific news is that Desiree Doogan and Cloe Deuchars have impressed the jugdes enough to be put forward for the Regional along with Amanda Primrose and Carly Richards has been selected for the Development Squad, well done girls you must now continue to show the Coaches that you deserve your place's.

U19 Regional & Development Trials--  for our U15's moving up into the world of U17's football these trials were always going to be difficult, especially with them being U19 Trials and many of the established players in Regional and Development Squads had 1,2 and even 3 years experience, but our U17's girls did us proud with Tasha Ross, Kerry Galloway, Shaunni Lee Coleman, Rebecca Johnstone and Lauren Sandles being offered a place in the U19's Development squad they all showed the judges the positive attitude and self belief that is required for selection, well done to all of you, pat yourselves on the back it is well deserved.

We also had 6 of our current U17 Ladies and two of our new U17 Ladies at the trials and we Congratulate Natalie Burns, Chelsea Waston, Robyn Smith, Claire Thom's and Nadine Duffy who all gained a place  for the U19 Regional Squad. Two other Congratulations are in order and they go to Beth Cameron and Danielle MacMillan of our U17's Ladies who have been given a place in the U19 Development Squad, well done to all our young ladies again you have all shown attitude, commitment and self belief that is required if you want to become the best. The final Congratulations goes to another one of our new U17's Ladies Danni McGinley who is in fact still young enough to trial for the U15 Regional, she did and sailed through, so well done Danni.

To the players that never made the squads this time you have to take the trials as an experience and we are sure the next time the trials come round next season you will be ready and able to take your places at Regional or Development.

" Winners All Round Ladies Pre Season 2008"

Saturday the 14th June 2008 - and the Ladies travel to Livingston to take on Dumfries U17's and Cumbernauld U17's.

GAME A - In a pulsating game were Cumbernauld took a shock 2.0 half time lead, the Ladies got back in the game by getting the ball down where it should be  - on the ground - and after a terrific move which started on the right then 5 passes later ended up being hammered home by R.S of the Ladies, superb goal which was perfectly executed. The Ladies then went in search for the equaliser but it was Cumbernauld who added the next goal to thier tally after a long ball clearance two Ladies defenders went for the same ball, the ball dropped to the Cumbernauld striker and it was 3.1, with 10 minutes to go the Ladies made three changes and this seemd to change the game in thier favour, as two quick fire goals by Y.D and R. S brought the teams level at 3.3

GAME B - and this time it was Dumfries the opponents, some superb football and interlinking play by the Ladies created a terrific opportunity on the left and R.T hammered home, soon after N.D finished off another good Ladies move to make it 2.0, Dumfries then pulled one back with a long range shot that sailed into the top corner. With 10 minutes left A.C scored a beauty as she pulled the ball out of the air with one foot then turned and hit a scorcher into the net, 3.1 to the Ladies.

Game C - This one again against Cumbernauld was a tight torrid affair with both teams defences in a stubborn mood, but one marvellous piece of interlinking play opened up the Cumbernauld defence and R.T ghosted past her marker to hammer home, a hard fought 1.0 win that was well deserved.

The other game in this event ended with a 2.0 scoreline for Cumbernauld against Dumfries.

So the Ladies picked up medals and a shield for thier days efforts and to all who watched were winners all round, well done Ladies.

3rd Game - Tayside Ladies 7 V Dunfermline 1

Ladies Goalscorers - Claire Thoms

Two excellent performances followed by a lack lustre display, all in all a good work out over 3 days where all the players got a good run out, great to get Rachel Cheetham (back from hoilday) involved in the 3rd game. Overall very pleased with the way the squad is coming together, we now have a couple of weeks to fine tune the format and team shape before the season begins.

Sunday 17th August - Tayside Ladies 4 Aberdeen U17  2

Ladies Goalscorers - Alanna Carroll 2 , Beth Cameron, Kirsty Lynch

This was always going top be a tough test for the Ladies, we knew Aberdeen are a well organised and skillful side, it did not help us that we had  Kristy McConnell, Jessica Moir, Morgan Smith and Sarah Finlay all  still away on holiday which left us with only Danielle Macmillan as a recognised defender,  we also had Claire Thoms away with the Scotland team to Germany.

The Ladies started with Jodie Clark in goal, and a makeshift back line of Danielle Macmillan on the right, Rachel Cheetham and Rachel Bailley in as centre halfs  and Chelsea Watson on the left, in midfield we had Danni McGinley left, Beth Cameron inside her, Rhea Thomson right with Nadine Duffy inside, up front were Alanna Carroll and Robyn Smith.

The Ladies did not start that well and took 10 / 15 minutes to start gelling and passing, in this period Aberdeen showed what a good team they are by moving the ball about well without creating any clear cut chances, any balls that did go into the box Jodie in the Ladies goal dealt with comfortably. Aberdeen also forced 3 corners in quick succession. As the half went on the Ladies started to push Aberdeen back and around the 28th minute Beth Cameron picked up the ball some 35 yards from goal, Beth sprinted forward 10 yards and just before a tackle came in she hit a shot into the goalies right hand corner, 1.0 to the Ladies, The Ladies introduced Kirsty Lynch to the game given a rest to Nadine Duffy who had been caught by a flying elbow, the Ladies then took contol of the game and should have went 2.0 up 5 minutes later when a terrific move ended with Robyn Smith bringing out an excellent save from the Aberdeen keeper, the Ladies then hit the post through Danni McGinley with the loose ball falling to Beth Cameron who set up to send the ball into an empty net but was up ended from behind, penalty were the shouts and if this had been a League game one thinks a penalty would have been given but as it was the Referee let play go on and Aberdeen cleared the danger, just before half time another good save from the Aberdeen keeper prevented a certain goal but it stayed 1.0 to the Ladies as the Ref blew his half time whistle.

Into the second half and Aberdeen had changed personel and the Ladies changed goalies bringing on Nadine Millar, Aberdeen again had the Ladies pushed back in search of an equaliser, the pressure began to mount and 10 minutes into the second half Aberdeen deservedly equalised after a good move down the Ladies right, this gave Aberdeen a boost and again they had the Ladies on the back foot, with 18 minutes left they forced a corner which was sent into the penalty area and with no one picking her up the Aberdeen number 9 simply powered a header home, 2.1 to Aberdeen and the Ladies were under the cosh, now we would see what they were really made off. The Ladies at this point changed Nadine Duffy for Beth Cameron who had had an excellent game but was tiring. The Ladies then rolled up thier sleeves and took the game back to Aberdeen, after a couple of good saves from the Aberdeen keeper the Ladies won a corner, Rhea Thomson swung it over and Kirsty Lynch smacked it home 2.2, Aberdeen came back again and a terrific stop from Nads in goal kept the scores level, The Ladies then pressed again and Danni McGinley then Nadine Duffy had shot's not far off target, 10 minutes to go and after another good 4 pass move Alanna Carroll showed why she is the Number 1 striker with a good finnish to give the Ladies the lead 3.2., the Ladies kept pushing forward and with 3 minutes to go killed off the game with another well worked goal, with 5 passes ripping Aberdeen apart ending with Alanna Carroll hitting a perfect shot passed the Aberdeen keeper. 4.2 to the Ladies and minutes later the final whitsle went.

A very tough game for the Ladies but you showed your belief after going a goal down half way through the second half to come out on top by 4 goals to 2, Aberdeen were very tough opponents and gave us an excellent game which will benefit us greatlywhen the League season starts next Sunday away to St Johnstone, well done to everyone today special mentions to Chelsea Watson who again sat in as Left Back and done a terrific job, Rachel Cheetham who played brilliantly in the heart of defence, not forgetting our 2 goalies, to have one top class keeper is great to have 2 top class keepers is simply devine.

All in all Ladies an excellent pre season and after playing some top opposition we have the following stat's

Played 7 Won 5 Drawn 1 Lost 1 Goals For 26 Goals Against 15

Now onto U17 League business starting in Perth on Sunday 24th August 2008 against St Johnstone, lets get it on Ladies straight from the off.

We Send Rakki Our Best

It's at times like these that football becomes a secondary importance, we have just had the sad news of a terrible injury to one of our most dedicated players - Rakki - . Rakki has sustained an injury to her knee at school P.E whilst trampolining. This injury will keep Rakki out of the team for some time and we all send our very best wishes and hopes of a speedy recovery to her. The girls from the U17's will alway's go and visit as will her Coaches throughout her recovery programme to lend her our support. Rakki always attended training and seldom missed anything to do with Celtic Girls - Rakki the Green Machine will be with you every single step of the way back to recovery, so chin up and never let it get you down.
