Tayside Ladies F.C

We Play The Art Of Football - Its In Our Game

Pre Season GAMES

Saturday the 14th June 2008 - and the Ladies travel to Livingston to take on Dumfries U17's and Cumbernauld U17's.

GAME A - In a pulsating game were Cumbernauld took a shock 2.0 half time lead, the Ladies got back in the game by getting the ball down where it should be  - on the ground - and after a terrific move which started on the right then 5 passes later ended up being hammered home by R.S of the Ladies, superb goal which was perfectly executed. The Ladies then went in search for the equaliser but it was Cumbernauld who added the next goal to thier tally after a long ball clearance two Ladies defenders went for the same ball, the ball dropped to the Cumbernauld striker and it was 3.1, with 10 minutes to go the Ladies made three changes and this seemd to change the game in thier favour, as two quick fire goals by Y.D and R. S brought the teams level at 3.3

GAME B - and this time it was Dumfries the opponents, some superb football and interlinking play by the Ladies created a terrific opportunity on the left and R.T hammered home, soon after N.D finished off another good Ladies move to make it 2.0, Dumfries then pulled one back with a long range shot that sailed into the top corner. With 10 minutes left A.C scored a beauty as she pulled the ball out of the air with one foot then turned and hit a scorcher into the net, 3.1 to the Ladies.

Game C - This one again against Cumbernauld was a tight torrid affair with both teams defences in a stubborn mood, but one marvellous piece of interlinking play opened up the Cumbernauld defence and R.T ghosted past her marker to hammer home, a hard fought 1.0 win that was well deserved.

The other game in this event ended with a 2.0 scoreline for Cumbernauld against Dumfries.

So the Ladies picked up medals and a shield for thier days efforts and to all who watched were winners all round, well done Ladies.

Two excellent performances followed by a lack lustre display, all in all a good work out over 3 days where all the players got a good run out, great to get Rachel Cheetham (back from hoilday) involved in the 3rd game. Overall very pleased with the way the squad is coming together, we now have a couple of weeks to fine tune the format and team shape before the season begins.

Sunday 17th August - Tayside Ladies 4  Aberdeen 2

Ladies Goalscorers - Alanna Carroll 2, Beth Cameron, Kirsty Lynch

Aberdeen proved to be an excellent work out before our League campaign kicks off, the Ladies went into a 1.0 half time lead thanks to a good goal from Beth Cameron, Aberdeen came out with all guns blazing in the second half and took a 2.1 lead with 18 minutes to go but the Ladies showed their resolve with goals coming from Alanna Carroll (2) andf Kirsty Lynch to gve the Ladies a 4.2 win, considering we were without our entire back line Morgan Smith, Jessica Moir, Sarah Finlay, Kirsty McConnell and Claire Thoms this result was a very good result indeed, Two terrific performances from Chelsea Watson filling in at Left back and Rachel Cheetham again coming in as centre half, well done to all the players today though you showed you know how to dig deep.

Awesome Squad Performance

This was an awesome performance and even though we credited POTM to Claire Thoms for the computer system, every single Tayside Ladies player was POTM, this was a stunning squad performance with a breathtaking display of passing football. Once we went 4.0 ahead we gave our other top class keeper a run outfield and Nadine showed she is more than capable of being in that position, in the second half we then put Nad's betqeen the sticks and gave Jodie Clark our other top class keeper a go at playing striker, once we went 8.0 up this was our opportunity to give a trial to Cally Fearn who came on and showed that she wants to be part of this squad with no nonsense tackling and good distribution.

Our tough pre season has done us well and we have kicked off the LEAGUE campaign in devastating form. The goals well quite simply put were all excellent and one that stands out is the terrific goal that started with a quick goal kick out to team Captain Danieele who slipped it onto Beth then onto Claire who passed a defender before rocketing a shot passed Bobby into the St Johnstone goal, another was a solo by Nadine Duffy who collected a good pass some 40 yards from goal then waltzed passed 5 Saints players before slipping the ball into the corner of Bobby's goal, girls they were all terrific goals today and it was a truly teriffic squad performance, had Bobby not been in such good form in the Saints goal the scoreline could have easily been double.

Now it's a home tie next Sunday against Cowdenbeath, lets keep up the good work, well done everyone.

Welcome
