Two excellent performances followed by a lack lustre display, all in all a good work out over 3 days where all the players got a good run out, great to get Rachel Cheetham (back from hoilday) involved in the 3rd game. Overall very pleased with the way the squad is coming together, we now have a couple of weeks to fine tune the format and team shape before the season begins.

Sunday 17th August - Tayside Ladies 4 Aberdeen U17  2

Ladies Goalscorers - Alanna Carroll 2 , Beth Cameron, Kirsty Lynch

This was always going top be a tough test for the Ladies, we knew Aberdeen are a well organised and skillful side, it did not help us that we had  Kristy McConnell, Jessica Moir, Morgan Smith and Sarah Finlay all  still away on holiday which left us with only Danielle Macmillan as a recognised defender,  we also had Claire Thoms away with the Scotland team to Germany.

The Ladies started with Jodie Clark in goal, and a makeshift back line of Danielle Macmillan on the right, Rachel Cheetham and Rachel Bailley in as centre halfs  and Chelsea Watson on the left, in midfield we had Danni McGinley left, Beth Cameron inside her, Rhea Thomson right with Nadine Duffy inside, up front were Alanna Carroll and Robyn Smith.

The Ladies did not start that well and took 10 / 15 minutes to start gelling and passing, in this period Aberdeen showed what a good team they are by moving the ball about well without creating any clear cut chances, any balls that did go into the box Jodie in the Ladies goal dealt with comfortably. Aberdeen also forced 3 corners in quick succession. As the half went on the Ladies started to push Aberdeen back and around the 28th minute Beth Cameron picked up the ball some 35 yards from goal, Beth sprinted forward 10 yards and just before a tackle came in she hit a shot into the goalies right hand corner, 1.0 to the Ladies, The Ladies introduced Kirsty Lynch to the game given a rest to Nadine Duffy who had been caught by a flying elbow, the Ladies then took contol of the game and should have went 2.0 up 5 minutes later when a terrific move ended with Robyn Smith bringing out an excellent save from the Aberdeen keeper, the Ladies then hit the post through Danni McGinley with the loose ball falling to Beth Cameron who set up to send the ball into an empty net but was up ended from behind, penalty were the shouts and if this had been a League game one thinks a penalty would have been given but as it was the Referee let play go on and Aberdeen cleared the danger, just before half time another good save from the Aberdeen keeper prevented a certain goal but it stayed 1.0 to the Ladies as the Ref blew his half time whistle.

Into the second half and Aberdeen had changed personel and the Ladies changed goalies bringing on Nadine Millar, Aberdeen again had the Ladies pushed back in search of an equaliser, the pressure began to mount and 10 minutes into the second half Aberdeen deservedly equalised after a good move down the Ladies right, this gave Aberdeen a boost and again they had the Ladies on the back foot, with 18 minutes left they forced a corner which was sent into the penalty area and with no one picking her up the Aberdeen number 9 simply powered a header home, 2.1 to Aberdeen and the Ladies were under the cosh, now we would see what they were really made off. The Ladies at this point changed Nadine Duffy for Beth Cameron who had had an excellent game but was tiring. The Ladies then rolled up thier sleeves and took the game back to Aberdeen, after a couple of good saves from the Aberdeen keeper the Ladies won a corner, Rhea Thomson swung it over and Kirsty Lynch smacked it home 2.2, Aberdeen came back again and a terrific stop from Nads in goal kept the scores level, The Ladies then pressed again and Danni McGinley then Nadine Duffy had shot's not far off target, 10 minutes to go and after another good 4 pass move Alanna Carroll showed why she is the Number 1 striker with a good finnish to give the Ladies the lead 3.2., the Ladies kept pushing forward and with 3 minutes to go killed off the game with another well worked goal, with 5 passes ripping Aberdeen apart ending with Alanna Carroll hitting a perfect shot passed the Aberdeen keeper. 4.2 to the Ladies and minutes later the final whitsle went.

A very tough game for the Ladies but you showed your belief after going a goal down half way through the second half to come out on top by 4 goals to 2, Aberdeen were very tough opponents and gave us an excellent game which will benefit us greatlywhen the League season starts next Sunday away to St Johnstone, well done to everyone today special mentions to Chelsea Watson who again sat in as Left Back and done a terrific job, Rachel Cheetham who played brilliantly in the heart of defence, not forgetting our 2 goalies, to have one top class keeper is great to have 2 top class keepers is simply devine.

All in all Ladies an excellent pre season and after playing some top opposition we have the following stat's

Played 7 Won 5 Drawn 1 Lost 1 Goals For 26 Goals Against 15
